NEW YORK – Wall Street’s “Software-mageddon” has been snowballing. Now investors are debating whether it is time to warm up to the beaten-down stocks.
The fallout for the software industry, which includes a handful of signature stocks of the recent bull market, reflects growing anxiety over the potential disruption caused by artificial intelligence, as investors increasingly divide the sector into perceived winners and losers. The volatility also comes as investors shed tech holdings for other market areas that have mostly lagged in recent years while investors await quarterly updates during the heart of corporate earnings season that could further shake asset prices…. test on Reuters

February 4 Earnings Releases
Several highly anticipated stocks reported earnings today. Among them, Qualcomm was the day’s biggest loser, while Adient emerged as the top winner.
Qualcomm reported Q1 2026 revenue of $12.25 billion, up 5% year over year and above expectations. However, its Q2 revenue guidance of $10.2 billion to $11 billion fell short of forecasts, triggering a 9% stock drop.
Adient shares jumped 13% to $23.77 after the company raised its outlook. The automotive seating maker now expects 2026 revenue of about $14.6 billion, up from a prior estimate of $14.4 billion, and lifted its adjusted EBITDA forecast to roughly $880 million from $845 million.

Sofar looks like players are intent on juicing the Sunday election current theme of the prospect of loose(r) fiscal policy and more meddling with the BoJ from Takaichi.
Japanese media appears to be in drunk-like infatuation with her winning a strong mandate.
Takaichi’s fiscal plans scream for
a) immediate tax cuts for consumers and
b) greater cooperation with the BoJ
This is adding up for (maybe) more JGBs weakness as players demand more compensation for more inflation and more carelessness with price stability.
I am baised.
I look for the current USDJPY rally to continue.
maybe 200 more

“The independence of the Fed is based on its trust of the American people,” Mr. Bessent said. “The Federal Reserve lost the trust of the American people when it allowed the greatest inflation in 49 years to ravage — ravage — the working people of this country.”
