Yet another quarterly earnings beat from AI-chip behemoth Nvidia (NVDA.O), opens new tab catapulted Wall St stock futures higher again on Thursday – batting away hawkish Federal Reserve meeting minutes, military tension around Taiwan and news of a July UK election.
Monedge – if we put aside my string of loonies and other popular characters (instruments) on the net that I found interesting and silly at the same time, NVIDIA is something of our thing…kind of J
Daily close seems Bullish to me ( and so far I guess you figured out that I follow everything strictly technical) . I avoid getting involved in stocks – too much fundamentals that can swing the other way in a second , but this is textbook example for another leg up situation….your approach with Buy stops above the market follows the suit 😀
We should talk a bit more on the issue of as you call them “meme buys” and try to save at least some of those fans out there – the new generation really need some education ….
NVIDIA 4h

May 22 (Reuters) – Nvidia (NVDA.O), opens new tab forecast second-quarter revenue above estimates on Wednesday and announced a ten-for-one forward stock split, impressing investors who have already tripled the chipmaker’s market value in the past year on AI optimism.
Nvidia shares hit a record in extended trade and were last up 2.7% at $978. The AI poster child’s stock has risen more than 90% so far this year.
Re: Belgrade / 6:51 pm – Bobby there is no way the meme buy would stick. There are zero forward looking fundamentals in support of course. The only way would be if they actually have a transition plan into new markets that suit the times. Not the business plan of “sticking it to the man.” Same with Icarus eh?
Now to Nvidia. Buy stop above market approaching the 2pm PST release in Euro? Only the bold survive?
GVI – regarding Britain, forward rates for Euro are decidedly on the sell, and for Sterling they are overwhelmingly on the bid. That is very unlikely to change today. Market did nothing on this morning’s data. Stocks are waiting for Nvidia. The highly moderate bid tone in stocks anticipated pre-market did transpire but overall in a holding pattern. Could be a 20 point range today in Euro for now likely. Bought UsdChf last week per our discussion. So far so good.

While the inflation and interest rate world continues to throw up unpleasant surprises, it’s hard to imagine much of a shift in major indexes on Wednesday as Nvidia’s (.NVDA), opens new tab earnings drum roll builds through the session before a post-bell release.

World markets, heady on hopes for renewed U.S. disinflation and another attempt by China at shoring up its ailing housing sector, entered the new week on the front foot as attention switched back to the artificial intelligence boom.
NVIDIA Weekly
Stock price ended at $898.78 on Friday, after gaining 1.27%.
The NVIDIA stock price gained 1.27% on the last trading day (Friday, 10th May 2024), rising from $887.47 to $898.78. During the last trading day the stock fluctuated 2.43% from a day low at $892.33 to a day high of $914.00. The price has been going up and down for this period, and there has been a 2.44% gain for the last 2 weeks. Volume fell on the last day by -4 million shares and in total, 33 million shares were bought and sold for approximately $29.86 billion. You should take into consideration that falling volume on higher prices causes divergence and may be an early warning about possible changes over the next couple of days.

Tick ratios in S/P 500 stocks have lost 1/3 of their 20 day range indicating consolidation and an upcoming strong move either up or down from current/recent levels.
Looking further out and with a macro perspective, considering that there is a tremendous gap between US stocks and Fed Fund futures, which has to converge at some point, this begs the question – what will happen to EurUsd as that transpires? The answer would be a selloff in stocks and in bonds and the yields rise over time, especially looking out toward the 4th quarter of the year.
I like Bobby’s notation of Nvidia looking like a sell and I am on board with that. That could very well impact EurUsd longs if it does transpire.

World markets have cheered up a bit this week, but ailing Tesla’s (TSLA.O), opens new tab tanking stock price faces a critical earnings test later on Tuesday and this month’s European business pulse proved surprisingly racy.
Relief at cooling Middle East tensions helped steady the ship on Monday after the worst week on Wall Street since 2022 – with bellwether chip giant Nvidia (NVDA.O), opens new tab recouping some of Friday’s 10% lunge as Big Tech megacaps get set to report first quarter updates over three days of a heavy earnings diary.
