Where does your prop challenge fee go
Account sizes, profit targets and payout splits tend to attract most of the attention.
But before purchasing a prop challenge, there is another question worth asking: Where does your money go after checkout?
It is a fair question, especially in an industry where traders may know plenty about a challenge’s targets but very little about the business handling their payment.
Where does your challenge fee go – First, what are you paying for?
When you purchase an Eightcap Challenge, you are paying a one-time fee to access a simulated trading experience.
You are not depositing funds into a personal live trading account, and the simulated balance shown on the platform is not money owned by the trader.
The fee provides access to the selected challenge and its associated services under the applicable program terms.
Your challenge fee is held with J.P. Morgan
Eightcap Challenges states that customer funds are held securely with J.P. Morgan in an account that is segregated from daily operational expenses.
This means challenge fees are handled separately rather than simply entering an everyday operating account to cover general business expenses.
It provides traders with greater visibility over how their payment is managed after purchase.
What does “segregated” mean?
Segregation means the funds are kept separate from the money used for the company’s ordinary operating costs.
That distinction matters because it creates a clearer separation between customer payments and general business expenditure.
It does not mean the challenge fee is held as a regulated brokerage deposit or that the trader owns the simulated account balance.
TradingView and Eightcap Challenges: A unique duo
Where does your challenge fee go – Are challenge fees refundable?
No. Challenge access fees are non-refundable once the purchase has been processed.
The account balance provided during the challenge is virtual, and trading takes place in a simulated environment. Real payouts are available only when a trader completes the relevant stages, meets all conditions and passes the applicable review.
Why does broker backing matter?
Eightcap Challenges is operated by Eightcap, a global broker that has been in business since 2015.
Eightcap Challenges can draw on the wider group’s established resources across:
● Banking relationships
● Trading infrastructure
● Risk management
● Technology
● Customer support
● Legal and compliance
Eightcap Challenges itself is a simulated evaluation program and should not be confused with opening a regulated brokerage account. However, being operated within the wider Eightcap business provides a different foundation from a newly launched standalone prop firm.

Trust starts at checkout
No payment structure can guarantee that a trader will pass a challenge or receive a payout.
Traders still need to understand the rules, manage their risk and decide whether the product fits their experience.
But clear information about where challenge fees are held gives traders something the prop industry has not always delivered: fewer unknowns before the first trade.
The challenge begins with trading, but trust should begin at checkout.
