XAUUSD vs. BTCUSD UPDATE

Both on the defensive as risk off dominates

XAUUSD pause above 4500 provides some relief but downside stays at risk while below 4638. Note end of 7-day pivot around 4700 (noted earlier) sent a bearish signal.

BTCUSD failure to hold 80K cools the upside but to end hopes for the bull side, a 74902 break would be needed.. Support around 78500 so far containing the downside.

Now dependent on 28996 holding to contain the downside or face a loss of momentum that would expose 28661 and 28462 as obstacles to a shift in risk to 28000.

So, EURUSD trades on the defensive (and hostage to the risk on/off mood) while  below 1.1654 with offers likely resting above the market from 1.1675-95

After disconnecting yesterday, correlations reverting to form today: Firmer oil => Firmer USD => Weaker US stocks

Forex Market Snapshot

Increasing geopolitical risk ahead of the weekend and higher US bond yields (US 10 year above 4.50%) have set a risk off mood (US stocks are lower) and boosted the dollar.

.AUD and NZD are underperformers while the JPY is lagging.

EUR has followed a weaker GBP, which extended yesterday’s slide on UK political news.

Markets likely to stay defensive ahead of the weekend barring some surprise headline..

While trying to guess at a top has been been a consistent losing bet,anything other than a test of 30000 would be considered a disappointment.

To keep 30K on the radar, the trendline and 29362 need to hold.

No reason to guess at a top so all depends on 7500 and whether it becomes support.

If not, the trendline along with 7449-58 need to hold to keep  the focus on 7500

BTCUSD regained 80K+ but for momentum, to build, 82-83K needs to be firmly broken. Otherwise focus stays on 80K.

XAUUSD moving the opposiote way. For a bear signal, 4700 needs to stay untouched on friday and 4638 broken.

May 13 Earnings Release Stocks

(NIBS) Nebius Group N.V. posted strong first-quarter results, with revenue surging 684% year over year to $399 million, beating the Wall Street estimate of $388 million. The company also raised its 2026 ARR outlook to between $7 billion and $9 billion and secured up to 1.2GW of power for its planned Pennsylvania AI facility. Shares rose as much as 17% intra-day, hitting a new 52-week high, and are now up 114% year to date.

(BABA) Alibaba Group Holdings Ltd.reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 results, with revenue rising 2.9% year over year to CNY35.28 billion. The company posted adjusted earnings of 62 fen per share, while reported EPS came in at CNY10.36. Alibaba also disclosed quarterly AI revenue of RMB 9 billion, implying an annual revenue run rate of approximately $5.3 billion.

(ENVX) Enovix Corporation reported first-quarter 2026 revenue of $7.6 million, up 49% year over year, while GAAP gross profit reached $1.6 million.
