Newsquawk Daily US Opening News – 16th July 2026
Forex Market Snapshot
The USD is trading mixed and off overnight lows with odd bedfellows, AUD, NZD and CHF mild outperformers. JPY is again underperforming, suggesting cross flows (e.g. AUDJPY, NZDJPY) are at play. EURUSD is back to unchanged after bounce failed to reach 1.1450 overnight. The hope may be that US PPI sees a replay of yesterday’;s cooler CPI and that the Middle East cloud intensifies but does not burst.

Market Update: Calm before the next storm?
While hostilties in the Middle East intensify, traders taking their cue from any reaction (or lack of) in oil markets. A lack of, more like choppy reaction so far has given US stocks cover to tick up, even as US bond yields tiock up as well.
