XAUUSD (GOLD) UPDATE
- Retreat from 5249 ran stops below 5122 and then found buyers (rather than follow through) below it (low 5093), not a surprise as there remains an underlying bull bias as long as it trades above 5000..
- This leaves 5100-5200 as sort of a no man’s land with no key levels and choppy trade while within it.

BTCUSD (BITCOIN) UPDATE
- Trying to ride the coattails off a risk off mood in stocks after bouncing from about midway between 60K and 65K.
- While key chart resistance is at 66627 (above needed to negate the current risk), 65K+ is probably more important in dictating whether this battered crypto gets a reprieve from a risk to 60K.
BTCUSD 4 HOUR CHART
Mood turning to risk on has seen stocks rally, the USD back off with GBP the outperformer, BTCUSD rebound but still below 65K XAUUSD trade mid 5100s after failing to hold 5200+ in a market still struggling with follow through.
The shift in the risk mood seemed to start with the Anthropic headlines and then got a boost from the Iran deputy Foerign Minister comments (scroll below).
As always, it’s the reaction to news more than the news itself that matters.
February 24 Pre-Market Earnings Release Stocks
(DRS) Leonardo DRS Inc reported quarterly adjusted earnings of 42 cents per share for the quarter ended December 31, higher than the same quarter last year, when the company reported EPS of 38 cents.
(DOCN) DigitalOcean Holdings, Inc. reported Q4 revenue of $242.39 million, exceeding estimates. For Q1 2026, revenue guidance is $249.5 million, with adjusted EPS guidance at $0.88.
(XMTR) Xometry, Inc. Q4 results featured 30% revenue growth and expanding profitability, driven by AI-native marketplace advances and robust enterprise adoption. Guidance for 2026 anticipates at least 21% revenue growth and continued margin expansion, despite macro uncertainty.

FX option expiries for 24 February 10am New York cut
EUR/USD at the 1.1765 level. It isn’t one that ties to any technical significance, so the impact of the expiries is likely to be less pronounced. If anything, it could just act as a mini-magnet in holding price action in European morning trade amid the lack of other key risk events during the session.
- EURUSD below 1.18, GBPUSD below 1.35, USDJPY above 155, XAUUSD retreating from 5200+ and BTCUSD below 65K suggest demand for USD.
- With stocks trading cautiously, it is hard to see where the USD flows are going.
- So, perhaps it is a need for liquidty driving the price action and/or just some caution given AI disruption concerns and/or tariff uncertainty as markets look beyond a focus on Fed monetary policy for now or simply markets looking for a fresh theme to trade.
